A priest, a scientist, and a psychologist walk into a bar…
This isn’t the beginning of a joke. It’s the start of a long-overdue conversation about how mainstream religion has handed down a God that only a sadomasochist could love.
How are we supposed to worship a deity who wantonly slaughters innocents to assuage His own bloodthirsty rage? Thank the loving God revealed in the pages of Setting God Free that Seán ÓLaoire has finally unpacked the horror show known as “the difficult passages” of the Bible, giving readers access to a cosmology built not on canonical scripture alone, but also on science, spirituality, and personal experience.
And, as for the God we humans have created in our own image – his day in court has finally come.

The Empire of the Human Spirit Strikes Back!
I’ve read all of Sean O’Laoire’s books, but I think he really knocked it out the park with this one! At a time when it can be so easy to slip into a fatalistic worldview, with all of the insanity that we seem to be swimming in, this book comes just at the right time to combat the nihilistic oblivion that Scientism (as opposed to true science), Fundamentalist Religion and Behavioral Psychology seem to be leading us toward.
There is plenty of heady stuff in here to satisfy the most hardened skeptic (Sean is a brilliant mathematician, clinical psychologist and logician), but he does not lose sight that the Ultimate Law, Love, is deeply imbedded in the human soul. It has been written that every man and woman is a Star, but I think Sean puts it even more succinctly when he writes that we are all “bite size bits of God and holographic fractals of Source “. His is a mature vision of Science, Spirituality and Psychology, that reminds us that we never really see things as they are, but as we are. If you are ready to undue yourself from your cultural conditioning and move towards your true identity as “God in Drag” look no further. If I could give this book six stars, I’d gladly do it. It is filled with humor, intelligence and penetrating insight that are reflective of its author! – Phil Corsetti
A signpost to the mystic
This book is a valuable addition to history’s
library of mystical work. It examines in fine detail the mythology we have created and breaks you out of the glass dome that humankind has built around the images of the spirit we call God. It really does set god free; and it sets you free as well,to become the mystic. Read it,taste it and digest it. It is nourishment for the soul. – Johanna McHugh
