“In the beginning was the Word…” Words are both our means of communication and the source of most of our misunderstandings. Whether you are a rational scholar or a metaphorical poet, words are the common currency. As progressive Christians we constantly strive for clear definitions, even as we know the center of our discussion is an ultimately undefinable Mystery. So there is always both Logos and Mythos.
In the beginning was the Word …
It all started with an act of divine self-expression.
and the Word was with God …
It all comes from the center of God.
In the beginning, was Logos.
