At each journey’s ending point
There exists forgiveness space
Which invites us to recall
Love’s transforming power and grace.
Deeper than our guilt and fear,
Deeper than rejection’s pain
Our creative thankfulness
Can reshape our life again.
Are we prisoners of our past
Locked within our anger’s walls
As our gloomy thoughts retrace
Everything that now appalls?
Christ invites us to relive
Step by step our journey’s race
Weaving love around mistakes,
Till our memory fills with grace
History forms a useful friend
But can tyrannize our mind
If we give misshapen thoughts
Power to kill the true and kind.
We will seek to mould our hearts
Finding Christ in our past days,
Keeping good and leaving dross,
Living life with thankful praise.
