When we discern Earth’s fractured face,
When parts diverge to form extremes,
Can joining hands suffice to build
A world fulfilling Gospel dreams?
As in the sky so on the Earth
The many all belong as one.
To start we each could now curtail
Attempts to make us all the same,
Accepting many paths to truth
Ignite our spirit’s holy flame.
As in the sky so on the Earth
The many all belong as one.
Awareness comes as we accept
Each person as God’s sacred child,
Their God-ness buried or exposed,
In angry mode or very mild.
As in the sky so on the Earth
The many all belong as one.
Past early stages of our faith
Lies oneness of the mystery’s ways.
Divisions fade as we explore
How different journeys end in praise.
As in the sky so on the Earth
The many all belong as one.
Within the realm of sacredness
Each different image, creed or song
Can help us each to walk a path
That makes our spirit wise and strong.
As in the sky so on the Earth
The many all belong as one.
O God who is both one and three
Your loving oneness helps us find
The ways your presence can unite
Our fractured heart and soul and mind.
As in the sky so on the Earth
The many all belong as one.
