Beyond all words that we can form,
Beyond all thoughts that we can share,
The message of our touch conveys
A world beyond all hate and fear.
Each partner’s intertwining love
Conveys a depth of tender care.
Our flesh provides our spirit’s home,
A holy temple God has blessed,
A sacred book that we can read
As love is nurtured and caressed
For love incarnate clothes with flesh
The human spirit’s nakedness.
O God who gives us power to choose,
The power to honour or abuse,
May we each walk the noble path
Avoiding ways desires seduce
Until respect for sexual rights
Shall shape the laws which we produce.
When we are tempted to oppress
On grounds of gender, sex, or race,
May we support each person’s right
To choose the partner they embrace
Yet limit family size to meet
The other life-forms need for space.
O God your body and your blood
We find throughout your cosmic tent,
A sacrament of thankfulness
Transforming life when all seems spent.
With joy we raise our heartfelt praise
For Heaven found in love’s ascent.
