If the shadow
is not seen
when the light
is shining
half of what is shown
goes missing.
Oh how damaging
the exclusionary instinct!
For in the garden of grace
both perfect rose and pesky weed
are welcome to share equal space.
Thus everything must be included –
the light and the dark,
the desired and despised.
Try to encompass it all
for there is no whole
without the other half.
