Dying of Whiteness, a new book by Jonathan Metzl (sociology and psychiatry professor at Vanderbilt) documents how those who have the least will cling to a sense of superiority based on having been born white, even when their rejection of the expansion of Medicaid and even the liberalizing of gun laws, is shortening the lives of tens of thousands of mostly white men.
