In worship at Mt Hollywood Church in LA, Sunday, Feb 16, I “channeled” William Jennings Bryan, best known as the fundamentalist Christian lawyer who defended six-day creationism in the Scopes Monkey Trial of 1925. Less remembered is the fact that he was a left-leaning political figure who was nominated three times for the presidency by the Democratic Party. Every word is from his speeches between 1896 and 1925, strung together into a oration that speaks uncannily to our times.
