“Without women preachers, we would have no knowledge of the resurrection.” – Jürgen Moltmann
Christianity has a long history of oppressing women, but the Easter story shows us how inauthentic that is to the Gospel. Jesus had women followers who likely funded much of his ministry. It’s safe to say that without women, Jesus would not have been able to survive in his ministry and that if women hadn’t gone to the tomb, no one would have even known about Easter. Until all Christians fully embrace women in the full life and leadership of the Church, we continue to deny the radical inclusivity of Jesus’ ministry.
