Canticle of the Sun

Inspired by St. Francis of Assisi

Let us celebrate the life of Francis of Assisi who loved all of creation. With him, let us give thanks for:

Brother Sun, who brings the day; and who radiates the divine. He is beautiful and radiant in all his splendor

Sister Moon and the stars; in the heavens they were made bright, precious and beautiful.

Brothers Wind and Air, and clouds and storms, and all kinds of weather, which give sustenance to all creatures.

Sister Water, who is so useful, and humble, and precious, and pure.

Brother Fire, who brightens the night and keeps us warm. He is beautiful and cheerful, and powerful and strong.

Sister Mother Earth, who feeds and nurtures us, and produces many fruits with beautiful coloured flowers and herbs.

And let us sing praises in our hearts to the divine who created all that is.

Amen
