If I Think that I Am Wiser

From the ‘Sing Young, Sing Joyfully’ collection

1.  If I think that I am wiser

But you feel that you are right

We don’t need a fight to settle

What is black and what is white

Since we both can share in searching

For the truth behind the words,

Like the sky that’s always present

As a background to the birds.

2    If I feel that I am greater

But you think that you are best

We don’t need a fight to settle

Who is greater than the rest

Since we both can gain the wisdom

Which is gifted us at birth,

How God made us all as equals

To enjoy our life on Earth.
