If you want to be happy (A Reflection on the Beatitudes)

From the Boundless Life collection

If you want to be happy

Let go and trust God

Finding pleasure in sharing wealth.

If you want to find healing

From loss and from grief

Mourn till crying restores your self.

If you crave for belonging

As child of Earth’s life

Share the nurture Earth gives each birth.

If you yearn to be loving

Start loving your self

Helping others to own their worth.

If you want to be peaceful

Release your old hurts

Till forgiveness lets hatred flee.

If you long to be holy

Seek God in each place

Finding stillness that helps you see.

If you long to be Christ-like

Make justice your goal

Working to change each system’s wrongs.

If you aim to gain wholeness

Wed joy to your pain

Singing Mystery’s great cosmic songs.
