The celebration of Easter is the acknowledgement of the power of the divine spirit working through us to transform the most negative of situations.  Let us commit ourselves to overcoming hate with love.

When surrounded by anxiety

All: Let us overcome fear with compassion

When surrounded by ignorance and disinformation

All: Let us overcome lies with truth

When surrounded by people who have little control over their own lives

All: Let us overcome oppression with freedom

When surrounded by people who are treated badly

All: Let us overcome injustice with fairness

When surrounded by war and violent conflicts

All: Let us overcome violence with non-violence

When surrounded by negativity and cynicism

All: Let us overcome pessimism with hope

When surrounded by unresolved guilt because of things done in the past

All: Let us overcome guilt with forgiveness

When surrounded by self-centredness and materialism

All: Let us overcome selfishness with service

When surrounded by unresolved animosities

All: Let us overcome conflict with reconciliation

And on this Easter Sunday, let us overcome the grief and dissolution of Good Friday with the joyful transforming presence of the risen Lord.
