but words which plumb

the depth of our desire,

to which we might aspire.

No shallow prayer

that will resist

those things that cause

a faltering faith

to slip,

perhaps desist.

Audacious prayer

that risks the flight

through rarer air,

to climb,

perhaps to glimpse

that chance of heaven.
