Old Fashioned Cameras

From the ‘Sing Young, Sing Joyfully’ collection

1.  At times we’re like old-fashioned cameras

Seeing life as black or white.

At times we’re like deleted scanners

Printing only dull or bright.

At times we’re like some ancient printers

Choosing only dark or light

But each of us can look for rainbows

Viewing life with coloured sight.

2.  At times it seems that people’s actions

Read as only black or white.

At times we think the lives of others

Come as only dark or light.

At times we feel that other’s thinking

Takes the form of dull or bright

But now we know that people’s rainbows

Disappear, at times, from sight.

3.  If we look deep inside our rainbows

We can see love’s many hues.

Though living brings its pain and darkness

Love has options we can choose.

God dwells within each person’s rainbow

Planting in our hearts the clues

Which help us all to live more fully

Through the love which spells Good News.
