1 Our spirits are like the trees of the forest,
Or trees as they stand guarding a park.
Our spirits can reach as high as tall timber.
Praise God for Spirit’s sacred life.
2 Our spirits are like the sky piercing mountains
Reflecting the way life changes shape.
Our spirits embrace the peaks of life’s wonder.
Praise God for Spirit’s sacred life.
3 Our spirits are like the turbulent oceans
Controlled by the Moon, shaped by each storm.
Our spirits can house both peace and great turmoil.
Praise God for Spirit’s sacred life.
4 Our spirits are like the stars of the night-sky
Beyond every path touching can know.
Our spirits can sing the songs of life’s mystery.
Praise God for Spirit’s sacred life.
5 Our spirits are like the nurturing mammals;
Our spirits can show mothering care.
Our spirits can grow through sharing our loving.
Praise God for Spirit’s sacred life.
6 Our spirits are like the Sun’s fiery brightness,
The source of Earth’s life, source of Earth’s death.
Our spirits can sleep or rise to awareness.
God help our spirits choose new life.
