The Gospel of Luke (The Scholars Bible)

What prompted the anonymous author of Luke to edit his sources—Mark and Q—and retell the story of Jesus? Using the Scholars Version translation that is true to the everyday Greek of the gospel writers, Pervo explores the who, when, where, why, and how of the Gospel of Luke. Includes the Greek text, introduction, notes, and cross-references.

Richard I. Pervo earned a Th.D. at Harvard University and taught religion at Seabury-Western Theological Seminary and at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. A specialist in Luke-Acts, he is the author of Dating Acts: Between the Evangelists and the Apologists (2006), The Mystery of Acts (2008), Acts. A Commentary (Hermeneia, 2009), The Making of Paul: Constructions of the Apostle in Early Christianity (2010), and The Acts of Paul: A New Translation and Commentary (forthcoming, 2014).
