When masks of God both age and die,
With intervening deities,
As doctrines lose their rigid hold
And freedoms grow like forest trees
Beyond shall then become the here
And outer worlds be found within.
When thought abandons ivory towers
Beliefs in dual worlds depart,
When abstract laws no longer shape
Our moral codes or styles of art
Beyond shall then become the here,
And outer worlds be found within.
When we embrace as truly ours
All portions of the cosmic tale
Our human pride will then contract
And deep humility prevail.
Beyond shall then become the here
And outer worlds be found within.
When eco-worlds again are seen
As Spirit’s many sacred homes
Our woven links will be affirmed
With atoms and with chromosomes.
Beyond shall then become the here
And outer worlds be found within.
As mystery, in and throughout all,
Dissolves our isolating ways
Our hearts will then be filled with love,
Our spirits be consumed with praise
For all beyonds are always here
When outer worlds are found within.
