When the world reveals a fractured face,
When the parts diverge to form extremes,
Can we build a world by joining hands
To fulfil the Gospel’s many dreams?
Throughout sky so on this planet Earth
All the fragments dwell within the one.
For a starting point we could curtail
Our attempts to make us all the same.
And accept the many paths to truth
Which ignite our spirit’s holy flame.
Throughout sky so on this planet Earth
All the fragments dwell within the one.
New awareness comes when we accept
Every person as God’s sacred child
With their God-ness buried or exposed
In an angry mode or very mild.
Throughout sky so on this planet Earth
All the fragments dwell within the one.
Past the early stages of our faith
Lies the oneness of the mystery’s ways
Where divisions fade as we explore
How divergent journeys end in praise.
Throughout sky so on this planet Earth
All the fragments dwell within the one.
In the realm of cosmic sacredness
Each competing image, creed or song
Can empower us all to walk the path
That can make our spirits wise and strong.
Throughout sky so on this planet Earth
All the fragments dwell within the one.
God the one who also comes as three
May we see that oneness lies behind
All of life’s immense diversity,
A great wholeness which we each can find.
Throughout sky so on this planet Earth
All the fragments dwell within the one.
