Baptisms, naming ceremonies, rituals of thanksgiving for new life … all these attest to our desire to mark in some way our recognition of a new member of God’s family.
It is a glad time for all as it reassures us of continuity at a very deep level. As our old traditions morph over the coming years, we will all be looking for the new ways in which these deep desires can manifest.
