What must the months before the first Christmas have been like for the young Mary? We have a few glimpses from the biblical stories, and over the centuries many authors have tried their hand at embellishing those stories. This week, in poem and in story, come three more perspectives. Perhaps at least one of them will be a new vantage point for you.
There is also a legend that Mary was not the first young woman to whom the angel came. But she was the first one to say yes.
And how unsurprising it would be for a fourteen-year-old girl to refuse the angel. To be disbelieving. Or to say:
