How do you experience the presence of God? Is it being out in nature, or hearing/singing/playing music, or finding selflessness in meditation… it’s a universal experience that is also intensely individual. There is no one sure way. Teilhard du Chardin gave us another clue when he wrote: “Joy… is the most infallible sign of the presence of God.” What brings you joy?
Come, let us think like mountain rocks,
Come breathe the song of scented breeze;
Come join the atoms’ quantum dance,
Come weep with all the fallen trees.
I feel the holy at work
standing by myself
in the sanctuary of the Good Shepherd
Most Holy Presence, fount of all becoming,
in you we live and move and have our being.
