    • Born in South Carolina, raised in Central Florida. Graduated from the University of Florida and then Seabury-Western Theological Seminary (1972). Elected Bishop of Iowa in 1988, served as TEC's ecumenical and interfaith officer from 2001-2009. Now serving as Assisting Bishop in the Diocese of Chicago. Married to Susanne who is an Episcopal deacon, three grown children, five grandchildren.

Epting Credo

I believe in (trust in, not just intellectually assent to) a Power, Force, Rational Principle at the core of the Universe that is the Source of all that is. I believe it has a personal quality (i.e. “father/mother”). This Power is so much greater than anything we can imagine that, for all practical purposes, it is beyond measure and without limit (“all” powerful…at least in comparison with us).
