    • Rev. Dr. Matthew Fox
    • Matthew Fox holds a doctorate in spirituality from the Institut Catholique de Paris and has authored 35 books on spirituality and contemporary culture that have been translated into 74 languages. Fox has devoted 45 years to developing and teaching the tradition of Creation Spirituality and in doing so has reinvented forms of education and worship (called The Cosmic Mass). His work is inclusive of today’s science and world spiritual traditions and has awakened millions to the much neglected earth-based mystical tradition of the West. He has helped to rediscover Hildegard of Bingen, Meister Eckhart, Thomas Aquinas. Among his books are Sins of the Spirit, Blessings of the Flesh: Transforming Evil in Soul and Society; A Way To God: Thomas Merton's Creation Spirituality Journey; Meister Eckhart: A Mystic-Warrior For Our Times; Hildegard of Bingen: A Saint for Our Times; Confessions: The Making of a Postdenominational Priest; Stations of the Cosmic Christ; Order of the Sacred Earth; and Naming the Unnameable: 89 Wonderful and Useful Name for God…Including the Unnameable God.

A new project launched on Mother's Day 2019 to encourage a passionate response to the news of climate change advancing so rapidly, is Dailymeditationswithmatthewfox.org, a free daily meditation to support mystic/prophets or sacred activists. Another project, working with two young co-directors, Sklyar Wilson and Jen Listug, has been the launching of the Order of the Sacred Earth. See www.foxinstitute-cs.org

The Generosity of Nature and the Model it Sets for Humanity

This week we celebrate beginning of summer (Wednesday). Let us remember how generous the universe is. For example, the sun. The entire energy of the earth runs on one billionth (!) of the energy the sun emits every day.

The Dual Nature of Evil

Carl Jung was ill at ease with understanding evil as a “privation of the good” and I tend to agree with him.  For I, like many, experience evil both as a distancing from the good but also as a kind of force or power or malicious intelligence in our midst.

A Crisis of Faith Question

Q&A with Rev. Dr. Matthew Fox

How can Christians get a firm foundation with scripture that has been influenced by the spirit of political influence by Kings and Popes and transcriptionists who were influenced by governments? A bit of a crisis of faith here. Can there still be a Divine Jesus without true historical knowledge of Him?

The Biblical tradition has something solid to give the East and to New Age.

I embrace today’s “new age spirituality” where Mind, Body and Spirit are aligned under a new paradigm of oneness with all –  that no longer supports the dogma of traditional religious institutions. My question is whether there is still room for my bible from which I have found so much comfort and wisdom?

Being an anchoress, she ‘sheltered in place’ and developed a deep wisdom that she shared in her book, Showings, which was the first book in English by a woman. A theologian way ahead of her time, Julian develops a feminist understanding of God as mother at the heart of nature’s goodness. Fox shares her teachings in this powerful and timely and inspiring book.
