Ben Johnston-Urey is a multi-award winning composer and performer, whose works across various genres span the depth and breadth of both secular and sacred traditions. His sacred songs and liturgies have been featured at national conventions, across radio waves and are increasingly used among church and house worship settings throughout the US and Canada. Born and raised in the Midwest, Ben and his family emigrated in 2021 to the Yukon Territory, where they currently live and serve on the ancestral lands of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council and Kwanlin Dün First Nation.
Ben and his spouse Caitlin often work together, composing music and liturgy meant to challenge and inspire the evolving church. They draw inspiration from our most ancient scriptural sources, incorporating the same expansive language and imagery by which God greets us, in the beginning.
Their unique style of scriptural-storytelling beautifully captures the joys and struggles of our shared faith journey, and offers a fresh perspective through which our worship may reflect God’s redeeming love at work- in and through each of us!
All songs, psalm settings and liturgies are freely available for use in worship, and can be found by visiting www.johnston-urey.com.
